Lonnie Fred Begay

03/15/75 - 01/09/01

Lonnie Fred Begay

In Loving Memory of our son, brother, uncle and grandson Lonnie Fred Begay, 26 years old of Sanostee, New Mexico, died Monday January 08, 2001 in Farmington New Mexico.  He was born March 15, 1975, in Shiprock, New Mexico, the son of Andy F. and Elsie F. Begay, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, 4 nephews and 2 nieces.  Lonnie graduated in 1994 from Newcomb High School.  Lonnie is greatly missed each and every day.

My name is Elouise Wadsworth.  This is on behalf of my family.  I have a daughter, 13 years old, Chantal and two sons 9 year old Kevin and 8 year old Ivan.  We really miss my young brother and uncle Lonnie F. Begay.  Especially my kids.  Everyday, every single day they talk about Lonnie like he's still here (alive).  After the death of my brother Lonnie, my kids lost interest in their schooling and other activities.  He was a loving, funny and helpful person always had something to say to make you laugh and happy.  He loved my kids very much.  I myself lost interest in my jobs and things I used to do and where I live now.  We really miss him and love him.  I hope Melvin Jim thinks about what he did to us, while he is doing his time, how he destroyed our family.

On January 8, 2001, I lost a very precious person in my heart.  That was Lonnie.  He was the person that always made everybody in the family laugh.  I cry everyday for him.  I am only 13 years old, and in a lot of pain.  Sometimes I don't even feel like getting up and going to school or to do anything else.  I just lay on my bed and think about Lonnie, nothing else in the world matters.  My brother who is only 9 years old is also going through a lot.  Lonnie was his favorite Uncle.  He used to play basketball with him all the time.   Everyday my brother always talks about Lonnie.  It's hard for me to always see him cry about Lonnie.  My other 8 year old brother was very close with my Uncle Lonnie.  Lonnie taught him a lot of things he never knew.  So, basically my whole family is going through a lot of pain right now.

So, I just want to let you know how you are tearing my family apart.  I just hope that you go to jail and think everyday about what you have done and how may lives you have destroyed.

Niece of Lonnie Begay, Chantal Wadsworh
13 years old
